Assure Technical success in 2023 Chamber Awards

We are delighted to announce that Assure Technical has been shortlisted for not one, but two 2023 Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber Awards.

Our success has been in the Best use of Technology category and High Growth Business of the Year category.

This blog provides a short overview regarding the context of our award entries and details of the awards process.

Best Use of Technology award

Assure Technical’s digital transformation process began in 2017 when our MD, Pete Rucinski, a former Royal Navy Officer with an enduring hunger for adventure, announced that he thought it would be a great idea to buy a yacht and travel the world.

Existing consultancy projects within the energy and civil nuclear sectors were ramped down and we focused our energy on establishing ourselves as a Cyber Essentials Certification Body. We knew that, with effective use of technology, it would be possible for us to deliver this service from anywhere in the world.

Key steps we took in order to make this happen included:

  • installing a secure satellite communication system onboard Assure Technical’s new floating HQ
  • Developing an e-commerce website and digital marketing strategy
  • Investing in GCHQ endorsed software that would enable us to access our clients’ systems remotely in order to perform Cyber Essentials Plus audits

When COVID hit in March 2020, we reluctantly headed home; grateful that we had stress tested the business from a remote working perspective.  One of Pete’s claims to fame is completing a Cyber Essentials assessment mid-Atlantic!

Since then, we have progressively invested in market leading software to integrate and automate all aspects of our rapidly growing business.  The efficiencies this has generated has enabled us to deliver a competitively priced market leading service.

High Growth Business of the Year award

After relocating back to the UK in March 2020, Assure Technical focused their energy on a high growth strategy.

Assure Technical’s first employee, Pete Lannon, was recruited in January 2021. As at April 2023, We have a 14 strong team of UK based cyber experts and turnover well in excess of £1m per year.

To date, we have helped hundreds of organisations improve their security stance. Key services we offer include Cyber Essentials certifications and CREST accredited Penetration Testing. Other services include Cyber Awareness Training and ISO 27001 consultancy.

Key drivers for our high business growth have been:

  • A clear business strategy and differentiated, consultancy led service offering
  • Strong company values: We Deliver Excellence, We Do the Right Thing, We Work as One
  • A customer centric approach, verified by our 4.9* Trustpilot rating
  • A strong and consistent brand and market leading e-commerce website
  • Effective customer targeting and cost effective ROI marketing
  • Fully integrated best in class technology (see section below for more details)
  • Focus on quality management and continuous improvement
  • Robust financial management
  • High staff engagement and retention – facilitated through competitive remuneration and benefit packages, defined career pathways and a high level of investment in training and development

Assure Technical success

Following on from being shortlisted, Assure Technical will be interviewed by a judging panel.  Overall winners will be announced at the 2023 Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber Annual Awards dinner which is being held on 15th June 2023.

Irrespective of whether we win an award, being shortlisted is cause enough for celebration.  This was our first attempt at entering awards and recognises the effort and achievements of the Assure Technical team, our suppliers and supporters.

Good luck to all of the other shortlisted companies.
