Business Development Manager

Position: Business Development Manager – Cybersecurity

Reporting to: Managing Director / Head of Sales

Location: Malvern, Worcestershire / Hybrid

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: Competitive base + uncapped commission + benefits package

Overview:

Are you an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Manager with a proven record in the IT/cyber sector?

We seek an experienced and high-calibre sales professional to play a key role in the next phase of our growth journey. This role will focus on generating new business, identifying strategic opportunities, and positioning our services as essential solutions for organisations seeking to navigate the ever-evolving threat landscape. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding our client base, particularly within the enterprise and mid-market sectors, and will work closely with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions that address clients’ specific security challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Development: Proactively source, engage, and convert new leads into long-term business relationships.
  • Strategic Sales Execution: Develop and deliver robust sales strategies aligned to our company objectives and market positioning.
  • Client Engagement: Establish and nurture high-level relationships with IT leaders, procurement professionals, and key decision-makers.
  • Sales Process Management: Own the end-to-end sales process – from initial enquiry to proposal, negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Industry Insight: Monitor the market for changes in the threat landscape, regulatory shifts, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Work in partnership with the wider sales team, as well as the client services, service delivery and commercial teams to ensure solutions meet client expectations and achieve company goals.
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Maintain accurate pipeline records and provide regular progress reports to senior leadership.
  • Representation: Represent Assure Technical at relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

About You:

  • You are a motivated self-starter with a natural flair for developing business and building trust-based relationships.
  • You have a consultative selling style, capable of tailoring solutions to meet specific customer needs.
  • You are commercially aware and adept at identifying win-win opportunities.
  • You thrive in a target-driven environment and enjoy being part of a high-performance team.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of proven experience in B2B sales, ideally within the cybersecurity, technology, or SaaS sectors.
  • Proven track record in Cyber Security /IT sales
  • Demonstrated success in new business acquisition and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of the cybersecurity market, including key challenges, frameworks, and compliance drivers (e.g. Penetration Testing, Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001).
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to engage at C-suite level and manage complex sales cycles.
  • Experience of using CRM systems and sales reporting tools effectively.
  • Highly organised, with excellent time management and pipeline tracking ability.
  • Experience producing winning proposals and bids.
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs Grade 5 and above
  • A Level equivalent qualifications

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience selling both products and managed services.
  • Formal training or certifications in sales or cybersecurity (e.g. CISSP, CompTIA Security+, Miller Heiman).
  • Existing network of industry contacts across enterprise and mid-market sectors.

Other things you should know:

You must have the right to work in the UK.

You will be required to perform tasks on-site at various locations across the UK and overseas.
